Green Food Tech 2023

Over 150 scientists gather to discuss innovations in sustainable food!

The Green Food Tech 2023 international conference was held on May 18 and 19 at the Sherbrooke Pavilion of the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM).

This innovative event, organized by INAF and its associated international laboratory the LIAAN was already in its third edition, and was once again a great success!

 

Transforming the biofood sector through a multi-sectoral approach

More than 150 participants from a wide range of backgrounds and continents came to network, share the results of their work and acquire new knowledge about sustainable food. The event brought together key players in the biofood sector (research, industry and government) to discuss a wide range of important issues.

As Green Food Tech hosted this year's Rendez-vous international du GastronomiQc Lab, we also welcomed professionals and students from the restaurant, tourism and hostelry industries.

With its rich multidisciplinary program, Green Food Tech covered a wide range of sustainable food topics: cutting-edge solutions, recent discoveries and promising avenues for a greener world.  The program included over 30 conferences, 25 Flash presentations and no fewer than 47 scientific posters!

A showcase for responsible food consumption

Breaks and meals were an opportunity to enjoy locally-prepared, eco-responsible dishes and hors d'oeuvres from Bocobistro, a caterer selected for its unmatched environmental approach. Meals were served in reusable glass jars: an ingenious concept!

Attendees also had the chance to taste miller tenebrion cookies, courtesy of  Ribozome, a company specialized in the production of sustainable insect-based proteins.

Green Food Tech was also a great opportunity to network, thanks in particular to the Thursday evening networking cocktail. This much appreciated activity took place in a stunning room at theHôtel de l’ITHQ. asty boreal-inspired appetizers were served, delighting the taste buds of the guests. It was a vibrant evening, with plenty of opportunity for discussion!
